Our Wednesday Live guest today, Mary Lee Weir, has 27 years of experience crafting her website-building profession. With the implementation of AI, she is able to help her clients grow and expand business in new and innovative ways. Mary Lee shared that AI has been around for a long time — decades — and she cautions that it can be inaccurate and track wrong information. It is important to learn how to feed information to the AI platforms you work with.
AEO = Answer Engine Optimization | GEO = Generative Engine Optimization. For years, businesses optimized for Google search results (SEO). Today, people are asking questions directly to AI tools like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Claude. The question is no longer “Can your website rank on page one?” but “Will AI recommend your business when someone asks for a solution?” AEO focuses on making your content easy for AI and search engines to understand and quote; GEO focuses on increasing your visibility inside AI-generated answers. The fundamentals are still the same — quality content, expertise, trust, clear answers to customer questions, and consistent business information online — but now you’re optimizing not just for search engines, but for AI assistants as well.
A simple example: instead of trying to rank for “roofing company Florida,” you create content that answers “How much does a new roof cost in Florida?” or “What are signs I need a roof replacement?” When AI finds trustworthy answers, it is more likely to cite or recommend that business. The one-line radio takeaway: “SEO helps people find your website. AEO and GEO help AI find, understand, and recommend your business.”
Mary has also traveled to many places and helped minister in various ways. Today she shared a testimony from her trip to India and the ministry of the Rose Circles, including a short documentary she produced — watch the Rose Circles documentary.
